About the role
Hands-on technical lead designing and building APIs and platform capabilities for Rubrik's AI-driven products. Owns the full API lifecycle across stacks, clouds, and iPaaS, enabling AI-native consumption patterns for LLMs and agents.
What you'll do
- Design and own APIs across REST, GraphQL, gRPC, and webhooks
- Build APIs exposing data/services as tools for LLMs and AI agents, enabling RAG and agentic workflows
- Define API governance including versioning, documentation, and reusable auth/error-handling frameworks
- Provide technical leadership through design reviews, code reviews, and mentoring
- Define NFRs and SLAs for availability, latency, throughput, and reliability
- Partner with security and compliance to meet regulatory requirements
What they're looking for
- 8+ years software engineering experience, with 5+ years in API/full-stack/backend development
- 2+ years in senior/lead/architect capacity owning API and platform designs
- 1+ years in an FDE role working with internal customers
- Deep API expertise across REST and contract-first design (OpenAPI/Swagger)
- Backend and full-stack skills in Node.js, Java, Python, or Go
- Cloud-native development on AWS, Azure, or GCP with serverless, Kubernetes, and IaC
