About the role
Lead backend engineer role owning distributed systems and backend services for Zeta's CRM and marketing platform, including SMS/MMS/RCS messaging. Requires deep distributed systems and cloud-native expertise to guide the engineering team.
What you'll do
- Lead design and development of mobile communication services (SMS, MMS, RCS)
- Translate business requirements into scalable backend architectures
- Architect high-performance backend services and APIs
- Ensure quality via code reviews, testing, and best practices
- Debug production issues and drive performance enhancements
- Take end-to-end ownership of critical platform components
What they're looking for
- 10+ years building scalable backend systems
- Proficiency in Java, Python, Ruby, or similar
- BS/MS in Computer Science or related field
- Experience with Kafka, Elasticsearch, NoSQL (Aerospike)
- Familiarity with Snowflake, ClickHouse, or Redshift
- Experience with AWS, CI/CD, containers, microservices
