About the role
Engineering Manager - Data to lead Axi's global Data team, owning data end-to-end: ingestion, modelling, reporting, alerting. Platform runs on Azure, Databricks, ClickHouse, dbt. Role sets technical direction, drives dbt pipelines, owns data governance and security.
What you'll do
- Lead and grow distributed team of data engineers and analytics engineers
- Own all data elements: ingestion, models, pipelines, reporting, dashboards, alerting
- Set technical direction for data architecture
- Drive dbt-based pipeline development, testing, validation
- Own data governance and security
- Ensure reliability and cost efficiency via SLAs, monitoring, CI/CD
What they're looking for
- Strong hands-on experience with Databricks (Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog) and advanced SQL
- Experience with ClickHouse or similar real-time analytical databases
- Solid dbt experience
- Knowledge of Azure data services (ADLS Gen2, Data Factory, Event Hubs, Key Vault, Entra ID, Purview)
- Grasp of data governance and security (RBAC, encryption, masking, auditing)
- Experience with reporting/alerting tools (Power BI) and CI/CD for data
- 7–14 years in data engineering, 3+ years leading data teams
- Experience in fintech, trading, or regulated high-volume environments
