About the role
Deep Learning Research Engineer on the AI/ML team building the systems that power HackerRank's hiring platform, including an autonomous AI interviewer, fraud detection, and skill evaluation. Role spans research and production, exploring architectures beyond Transformers and agentic AI.
What you'll do
- Research, design, and develop deep learning models and novel neural architectures
- Explore SSMs, Liquid Neural Networks, and hybrid approaches beyond Transformers
- Design agentic AI systems, recursive reasoning engines, and tool-augmented architectures
- Fine-tune models with PEFT (LoRA, QLoRA) and knowledge distillation
- Optimize model performance, inference efficiency, latency, and memory
- Design experiments, evaluation frameworks, and benchmarks; ship research to production
What they're looking for
- M.Tech/M.S./Ph.D. in AI/ML or related, preferably Tier 1 institution
- 2-3 years experience in Deep Learning, ML, or Applied AI Research
- Strong foundations in linear algebra, probability, statistics, optimization
- Proficiency in PyTorch/JAX with hands-on model development
- Ability to implement and extend research papers, building architectures from scratch
- Familiarity with distributed computing, GPU acceleration, ML infrastructure
