About the role
Staff Software Engineer leading the data layer behind GitLab's vulnerability and dependency management and the move toward services outside the monolith. Designs scalable PostgreSQL-backed backend systems and provides technical leadership across GitLab Security.
What you'll do
- Lead large multi-quarter technical deliverables from problem definition to delivery
- Design backend systems for security report ingestion, storage, indexing and querying
- Build with Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL; contribute to Go/Rust services
- Partner with product, design, frontend and engineering on roadmap decisions
- Influence product and technical roadmap through proposals and iterative delivery
- Define patterns for modular services and provide technical leadership
