About the role
As an SDE III on Swiggy's Data Platform team, you will design and build foundational platform capabilities for data ingestion, distributed compute, storage, and serving. You will own systems end-to-end, improve reliability and cost efficiency, and mentor engineers while raising the engineering bar.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and operate scalable data-platform services and distributed systems.
- Develop reliable batch and streaming data processing and ingestion capabilities.
- Improve performance, availability, and cost efficiency of data workloads.
- Build platform abstractions and self-service workflows for data users.
- Establish operational practices: observability, alerting, capacity planning, incident response.
- Lead technical design reviews and mentor engineers.
What they're looking for
- 8+ years software engineering experience with production systems.
- Strong programming skills in Java, Scala, Python, or Go.
- Understanding of distributed computing, data structures, concurrency, fault tolerance.
- Hands-on experience with large-scale data processing or streaming (Spark, Kafka, Flink).
- Experience designing reliable data pipelines and working with storage formats/lakehouse.
- Good SQL skills and understanding of data modeling and performance tuning.
- Experience operating cloud-based production systems.
