About the role
DataFlow Group seeks a Lead Engineer (Backend) to architect and build scalable, secure backend systems for its verification and background screening products. The role is hands-on, owning core product development, database design, and API layers with Node.js, Express, MongoDB, and AWS.
What you'll do
- Design and implement scalable microservices and monolithic architectures using Node.js, Express.js, and MongoDB
- Write production-ready backend code and solve complex systems problems
- Optimize databases, queries, indexing, caching (Redis), and system throughput
- Establish best practices for REST/GraphQL API design, security, code reviews, and CI/CD
- Participate in full SDLC from ideation to deployment, infrastructure setup, and monitoring on AWS
What they're looking for
- At least 8 years of professional software development experience
- Expert-level proficiency in Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB, and TypeScript
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, S3, ECS/Lambda, CloudWatch) and Docker
- Solid understanding of backend patterns: microservices, event-driven architecture, caching, message queues (RabbitMQ/Kafka), auth protocols
- Proven experience in database performance tuning
